Dry needling by Rangiora Physiotherapists & Podiatrists
Dry Needling is a western form of acupuncture used to target largely musculoskeletal conditions. It is useful in reducing muscle spasm and tightness by focusing directly at points of muscular adhesion. This may be used to good effect with hands-on physiotherapy techniques and exercise-based rehabilitation in cases of repeat “pulled” calf muscles or hamstrings. It is also particularly useful in situations where lifestyle and work cause increased tightness of specific muscles. This can often be the case in the front of the hip and gluteal muscles in sitting occupations or shoulders and back in work roles that involve a lot of lifting.
