Laser Fungal Nail Treatment in

Christchurch

Do you have a fungal nail infection on your toes?

Have you tried antifungal treatments with no success or improvements?

Are you worried about it spreading to other toes or your family?

Fungal toenail infections can be identified by discoloured, thickened and/or crumbly nails. They can start as a small white/yellow spot or strip on the nail. If left untreated, the infection can spread from the nails to the skin or it can destroy the base of the nail causing it to separate and break.

Fungal Nail Treatment with a Laser by Christchurch Podiatrist

Fungal nail infections are complex to treat. The PinPointe Nail Laser provides an alternative to prescribed topical or oral antifungal medication which may need to be used for many months with no obvious signs of improvement.

The PinPointe Laser is targeted directly to the fungal infection, killing the fungus within the nail bed and allowing a healthy nail to grow from the base of the nail.

Treatment for Fungal Infections include:

  • Oral Antifungal tablets
  • Topical Ointments, lotions or nail lacquer

    Q. How many laser treatments do I need for a for toenail fungus?
The number of visits will depend on the extent of the Fungal infection. This can be pre-determined during your Free Consult with a Podiatrist.

    Q. How does PinPointe Laser differ from other fungal nail treatments out there?
Pinpointe Laser is a pulsed laser light that is passed through the nail targeting the fungus spores briefly heating to a temperature point that will destroy the fungus. It does this without causing any damage to the surrounding nail and skin.

Q How long will it take to see results?
While there won’t be immediate results at the time of treatment. The toenail replaces itself every 6-9 months. New, healthy nail can be seen emerging from the cuticle or base of the nail.

Due to this being a cosmetic treatment some health insurance providers will not cover the costs. However, you can always check with your provider to see what they offer within your level of cover.

No anaesthetics or numbing creams are required for treatment. You may feel a warm sensation as the laser is used across the nail, which passes quickly.
